Well it is day 3 of AtoZ and I am still in the game!lol Come in and have some coffee and a piece of pie. Domino girls are coming here today, so there is something sweet. C is the letter today and I have to say C is for Curtis.
We all love this picture because he has a toothpick in his hand. It was a habit and when Curt was 4 he asked if we were going to bury Coco with a toothpick! )oh yes, I was kissed many times with a toothpick in his mouth.lol)Curtis was the love of my life and my best friend. We started dating when we were 16. Were married 55 years when he died. I didn't talk about him when he was in the NH because I didn't want to make people sad. Now I will share just a bit of him with you. He was quiet, but had a sense of humor. He had the most beautiful green eyes ever.(Dodd and Olivia have them too). He knew no fear. Would take on any project. The kids are just like him. All 3 of them. He loved driving a race car and raced everything from modifieds to late model stock cars. He always won the good sportmanship trophy. He was fair and always gave everyone the benefit of a doubt. He loved my Mother and she him.He loved animals and even had Henrietta, the stray chicken, eating out of his hand. He could fix anything. Seth used to call him Mr Fix it. He built car engines, and he built this house I am living in. Most important he helped raise 3 wonderful children and instilled in them a good work ethic, honesty, and kindness. When dementia set in it robbed us all. We missed him then and we miss him now. But C will always be for Curtis.
Some other C's I love are Curt, Clay, church, Carol Sue,Carla,Corner Antiques, and most of all Christ. If Curtis were here, he would be happy to have you come Through My Back Door where life is good.

We just lost our dear Mother in February after six years of watching her decline . Very hard on all of us. Enjoy your blog so much .It is like a visit with a good friend.

ReplyDeleteDear Betty,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss. It is hard enough to loose a loved once... but losing Curtis twice is really heart breaking. He sounds like he was a wonderful husband and father. I know you must miss him very much. I'm sorry. Hugs, Lura
It's so wonderful God gave you both many happy years together. And what wonderful memories you and the family have of those times together. Love both your smiles in that picture.

I am so happy to hear some of your heart and thoughts about Curtis and what lovely pictures. I know God blessed you with a wonderful life partner.. I learn so much from you and your posts.. As the book of Titus tells the older women to teach the young.. You are such a wellspring of life. I know dementia stole your love away but someday what a great reunion.. your life is such an example of steadfastness, faithfulness and simplicity.. love reading your life stories...blessings!
