Fall Blessings

It is a beautiful fall morning Through My Back Door, and I am so happy to see you. Come in, get a cup of coffee,(DD, in the Bunn today) and help yourself to a cookie. Yes, they are peanut butter and I love them. If you had waited until tomorrow we would have had pumpkin squares, but today it is cookies. Don't tell anyone, but the fireplace is on for effect. (no heat) just flame. I am always happy to see you drop in, but especially today. I am counting my fall blessings. We are using the Bunn today because company is coming down the road and they are coffee drinkers. We will eat a lot of good fall sweets and drink a lot of coffee. We will play cards, dominoes, and do a lot of talking. This is one of my fall blessings. I can't wait for them to get here and walk in here.
The leaves are falling faster than I can keep them swept off, but that is okay too. Leaves are a fall blessing. I love them. If they get tracked into the kitchen, so be it. I'll pick them up.
One of the best fall blessings for me is lighting. I love the glow of light, in the fall. I don't know, but I think my house is a fall or Christmas house. I wonder what my next one will be.
I am still loving this picture of "Mother". (btw I have removed the mustard candlestick). I like the glow of these silicone bulbs. I think Mother is very happy here.
Love the little slave doll from Pam&Frank.
Candle light! Ah! So pretty. I didn't keep this like this long.
Just a bit of a glow. Anyway I love the soft lighting of fall. Brings me fall joy.
I also love mulled cider in pewter mugs in the fall. Something about those mugs makes it taste better.
Pumpkins and mums are a fall blessing. (This dog is always a blessing)
We found Boo in October in the creek. She is a fall blessing.

Playing cards with friends on a fall night. Especially friends who are so much fun. (The mask is a big joke, and she will kill me for posting this)
Being able to have friends for lunch, and celebrate a birthday, is a fall blessing.
Taking trips with friends is a fall blessing and it makes lots of happy memories.
I know I showed this last time, but it is part of fall.
Going to the beach was an unexpected fall blessing this year.
Don't see one bit of fall here, do you? I will treasure these memories of our fall vacation, though.
I love snuggling up with a throw, reading a good book, listening to music, "just being," in the fall. Do you know what? I love to go back and read Gladys Taber books fall through Christmas. Something about them draws me in the fall. How about you? What do you like to do?
Another thing I consider blessings are smells. Don't you love the smells of fall? Pumpkin spice coffee, mulled cider, cookies baking in the oven, smoke from your neighbors chimney? Making apple butter, baking a turkey, oh my the list just goes on and on. I love the smells of fall. Yes, even the smell of wet leaves. Sitting around a fire, roasting hot dogs or marshmallows.
What a wonderful time of the year, Fall is. It just blesses you each and every day with its splendor. Even the rainy days are a blessing when you can snuggle in and "just be".
Another fall blessing is you coming Through My Back Door where life is good.
betty
PS: Why don't you think about your fall blessings. I would like to know what they are. I have many more, just don't want to bore you with them all.lol
PSS: Amanda is going to let us take a field trip to her house. What fun that is going to be. Beth said we can come to her's too. She and Amanda decorate nothing alike. Not like Deb and I either. It should be fun. It will be a long ride to Beths. She lives in Il.
PSSS: Let us continue praying for blogging friends and their families. Everyday I hear of another need. Let us all take time during the day to remember them. That should be one of our greatest fall blessings, praying for one another.

I love to feed the birds and squirrels and there seems to be more of them in the Fall. Fall has always been my favorite season of the year.. It just seems to be the cozy time of the year.
Your home does look like a Fall home, all cozy and welcoming..

  3. Betty I don't comment much if any but just wanted to let you know that I always enjoy reading your blog. Yes fall is also one of my favorite times of year but since we are in the middle of our fall shows I don't get to enjoy it as much as I would like to.

  7. Love your post, I do love Fall.

Autumn is a time of refreshing for me, a time to dote on my family with specially baked and cooked goodies, a time for warm jackets and hot chocolate, roasting weenies on an open fire, raking leaves and picking up Pecans. Betty, our Pecans are wonderful this year. You'll have to drop by for a few!

  11. Betty,

I barely made it in time for those cookies! A peanut butter cookie at bedtime is just as good! :)

I agree that your home is a fall and/or Christmas house. I've always said that about mine too.....even though it does have the Americana. Those colors just fit, huh?

All the things you named about fall I love too.....especially the smells and the lighting! Life in the fall is just a blessing, period.

I'm looking forward to those field trips!

    Have a great weekend!

    Hugs,
    Tammy

  13. Morning Betty...what a lovely post.
I too love all you mentioned. I think my home is more Fall and Christmas as well. I think that those of us who love Colonial and Prim styles also love the colors and flavor of Fall and Winter - more of a warm - homey - comfortable feeling.
Thanks for sharing all your wonderful memories.
Blessings and have a wonderful Fall weekend...it's going to be cold here but I'm okay with cold.
Oh...and as for the leaves - I LOVE SEEING LEAVES ON THE GROUND. When Doug rakes/blows them it's all green again...I love the colored leaves!!!!

  14. Hi Betty, you know people think I am weird but I love when it gets dark earlier because I love the glow that my lighting gives off, it feels so homey. Love the smells of fall and the sounds of fall, the wind through the leaves the dried leaves blowing across the cement and through the air. LOVE fall. Thanks for sharing.
    Be blessed,
    Cindi
