Hello.Like you,I am a friend to Betty.A few days ago,she has asked me if I would write a post "when the day came".
Sadly, that day is today and I am writing this post to let you know that Betty's beloved Dasko has gone to sleep.
As animal lovers,we know that however hard it is to let them go,we have to do the right thing for them.Poor Dasko hadn't eaten in several days and Betty felt that the time had come to let him go. I know she is heartbroken as he was her trusted friend, companion and a loyal guardian. He loved his Mom and she loved him back. He was a one of a kind and of course can never be replaced.Betty never left his side from when he came home and I am sure that Dasko appreciated that so much.
Letting go of our pets is a very brave thing to do and one of the hardest decisions to make but Dasko is at peace now and out of pain.
Betty will come in time to write about him in her own words but for now, please just join me in sending thoughts and prayers to Betty at this very sad time.
I found this poem online the other day and would like to share it with you. I truly hope there is a Rainbow Bridge for Dasko and all of our pets.
We're all thinking of you Betty.
In memory of
Dasko

Sending love and hugs to Betty.... I know what a difficult time this is...I've been there too many times myself. She was such a loving 'mother' to Dasko, and I know he loved her back. It's always so sad to lose our faithful companions....

Awww...so sorry for your loss, Betty and how kind of your friend to post for you. It's so difficult to lose a member of the family. We've all been there at some point in our lives and it will leave a hole there forever but we go on. We experienced a double loss 3 years ago with our 2 kitties that we had for 14 years. It was traumatic because it was so sudden...and it was Christmas, but we cherish their memories. God Bless.

Trena
Betty, I am so sorry for your loss. I know what you must have gone and are going through as I just went through it all myself not that long ago.

To have loved and then said farewell, is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you have stooped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you.
For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly.
For all of these things I am grateful and thankful.
I ask that you not grieve for the loss, but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each others lives. My life was fuller because you were there, not as a master/owner, but as my FRIEND.
Today I am as I was in my youth. The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the Sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures.
I can run, jump, play and do all of the things that I did in my youth. There is no sickness, no aching joints and no regrets and no aging.
We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever.
You live in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such as you are so rare and unique.
Don't hold the love that you have within yourself. Give it to another like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

ReplyDeleteHugs to you Betty my friend, take care, I know you will miss him so much. Always had dogs in my life, Hard to let them go, but maybe you can find another to fill his void. It won't be Dasko for sure but there is another dog out there that can make a good companion. Maybe a small little lap dog.
