The Stockings Were Hung

Yes they are and I am so excited! I won Tammy's giveaway over at
A Primitive Place ~ Tammy. .
The stockings and a little something extra came today and I couldn't wait to show you.
Aren't they just perfect? I feel they have really finished my mantle. They are perfect. Thank you Tammy. Here is the little extra.
This was just perfect for my tree. Do you think she peeked in my window? I am glad she did! It just made my day and my decorations.
Heavenly days, I was so excited about getting these I forgot to welcome you. Oh well, you know me well enough by now to know the coffee is on. Christmas Tradition again. Get your cup and lets visit. It makes me so happy to see you. I have all the indoor lights on, even though the doors are open.lol It is going to start raining so I am enjoying it while I can. I am so glad you came Through My Back Door, to have coffee.
I want to show you some of my little vignettes that you may not have seen.
I love this because of the stitchery, that says Old Fashioned Christmas. Peppermint says that to me. My Daddy always bought me a five pound peppermint stick at Christmas. It looked like a barber pole! We used a hammer to crack off pieces. I have enjoyed this thin ribbon peppermint this year. This is a closer look.
This is my Russian Santa from Carol.
A Deb Peterson pinkeep.
This is a little shelf over my chair in the reading nook. The figurine is, A Family Reads, by Sebastian. I collected Sebastians for years, but kept this one out because I am  an avid reader. Tammy over at TPP made the sign and I think it just fits there.
This week end was a family weekend. I went to Pigeon Forge with Deb, Michael, Amanda, Clay, Andrew and Mollie, on Friday nights to see the lights. We had a good time and just HAD to go to the Apple Barn for pie and ice cream. (Clay and I are the ice cream eaters in the family.)Then we just HAD to go over to the outlet mall and Amanda went to AnnTaylor and Deb and I went to Coach. Bad move. Saturday night I went to spend the night with Dodd and Renda and to see the play she was producing. It was so funny and it is amazing what high school kids can do. It is amazing how loud they are eating at O'Charleys afterward too.lol I have to admit I enjoyed every minute of it. Sunday Deb, Michael, Amanda, and I went to the Lady Vol Basketball game. What a fun weekend I had. I ended up at my sister in laws for dinner with her and my niece and nephew and his family. Family time was abundant for me this week end, and I was blessed to be included in so many activities.
Today I have more less been recuperating from my week end. Tomorrow I will start doing some Christmas baking. It is time to get the Stack Cakes going. They need to set a while before they are cut.
This is not the prettiest one I have made, but it gives you an idea of what they are. Lots of work, but oh so worth it. They have been a part of my Christmas all of my life. My Grandma made them and then my aunt, now I make them.
If you get a chance, go to the TPP blog and click on the E-zine Lynne did. You won't be sorry.
Well thanks for coming Through My Back Door where life is good.

PS: Please continue to pray for Amanda. She has a scan tomorrow and chemo starts very soon.

  6. Sounds like you had a very busy but a fun and family filled weekend Betty. Nothing slow about you. We usually get to see the lights in Piegon Forge but in Feb. when me and the mister get away for a few days. Due to his work schedule that might not happen this year. Love all the displays you have shown. Everything is so pretty, now if the weather would just turn cold so it would feel like Christmas all would be well. Still sending up prayers for Amanda everyday. Love the stockings and the ornies. I have the same stockings hanging from the mantle also, and in one of the bedrooms. Gota get those pictures posted. Take care and have a good week.

Congratulations on your win from Tammy - those stockings look like there were made for your mantel or that your mantel was made for those stockings - couldn't get much more perfect!!
