Here A Tweak, There A Tweak

Good afternoon and welcome Through My Back Door. I am so happy you stopped by and even happier I can offer you a cup of coffee. You see my electricity has been off and the coffee pot wouldn't work. Well anyway it is working to day. Come grab a cup and I just made a fresh strawberry
cake. You can have a slice of that too. Lets just relax and visit a bit. I have done a little tweaking here and there. As previously stated in my last blog, I am just not a good "vignetter."(Hey, I can make up a word if I want!) Anyway I had a couple of suggestions on the stove board, one of which I showed you earlier. This other one was suggested by ,Earlene and I did it. I really do like it, but would never have thought to have done this.
What do you think? I liked it and the felt candle Angela made looks really nice there. That basket is one I bought on the worlds longest yard sale and it just spoke to me.
Okay remember the pitcher with the flowers? Well I moved it and
this is what the walnut chest looks like now.
Then I moved the arrangement in front of the windows too. This is much simpler to me.
What do you think? Then I looked around and thought the table between the chairs was too plain. So added a candlestick. Hmmm don't know if I will leave it.
I am not too sure about that. Anyway the last tweaking is on the German Cupboard. It is the smaller of the two and is hard for me to come up with something that looks good on it. This is for now.
I reiterate, I have entirely too much stuff and like it all. I don't want to get rid of things I enjoy looking at. So I'll continue to move it around and see where it looks best. Lol. I guess all of us prim lovers love what we collect or we wouldn't collect. You know my motto is have only the things,(and people) you love around you. Life is too short not to enjoy.
I am so glad you stopped by again. One of these days I am going to share my dough board addiction. I just love them, don't you? You can't beat the patina of old wood.
Also there are going to be some changes to share Through My Back Door before too long. Can't wait to share that either.
Well thanks for coming Through My Back Door where life is good.

  3. I would LOVE to see your dough boards!!! Please!! I think everything is looking ever so loverly Miss Betty! You done good!! You are getting your tweaking down to a science! (The only thing I might add if you're still open to suggestions is maybe a wee bit of textile here and there - perhaps a little Heirloom Weavers square on the table between the chairs or a candle mat under the cutlery tray on the German cupboard - or even under the lamp in front of the table?? Just might break up the wood tones a bit...(and give you something else to collect and display!) Just a thought )- Looks truly beautiful as it is....You can come tweak me anytime!! Have a wonderful evening and weekend! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  4. Everything looks wonderful Betty! You did a great job! Your home looks very warm & inviting. I would also love to see your dough boards : ) I have been trying to move some things around up in my craft room & came across a box of goodies I bought on a trip to Michigan last August. Isn't that sad ... bought 'em, the gal at the store put 'em in a box, I brought the box home, & it's been sitting in the corner upstairs ever since. I have cupboards full of boxes of heaven knows what because we've not been sure if we're staying here or moving. One of these days it will be like a very, very, very long Christmas opening up those boxes & saying "I forgot I had that!" Enjoyed the pictures Betty : ) Blessings, Shirlee

  7. I love everything, especially the basket with the piece of fabric. It really softens the look and the pears don't look so lost.
Don't you find a bit of texture, whether it be a doily or greenery or fabric, really adds to the depth of the vignette?

  8. Everything looks wonderful...as usual! I'm constantly moving things around here too...Somehow, I'm just never completely satisfied with where things are. Maybe someday I will get it right!

  9. I like your displays looks just perfect. You tweaked them all just right. I also move things around alot and can't seem to be satisfied.
My friend always says, less is more and work in odd numbers when decorating. Maybe that is my problem. I want to look at all my things.
Maybe you should come and help me.
    Good job.

  12. Good morning Betty!
Your posts always make me smile! LOL! You are TOO hilarious! You have a great place there, and I think you do a good job with your displays, tweaking is good! I am trying to simplify too, but it's not easy is it? I have more stuff boxed up and ready to roll, I am finding A LOT that I was looking for, so now I am hoping to get some motivation to DO more! I will feel better once the garage is done. I am sorry your coffee post wasn't working! I would be really unhappy! Have a great week Betty!
    Hugs and blessings,
    Renee
