Let's Enjoy "The Now"

Good Monday morning everyone and welcome Through My Back Door. It is cold and rainy here in East Tn and I have been complaining. I know I should be ashamed and told myself I should just embrace The Now. The coffee is on, its Kona today, and there is also hot tea if you'd like. How many of you like me have just been complaining about stuff? I mean little trivial things like the weather, that we have no control over? Well I decided I would just enjoy The Now. I went with Deb, Michael, and my sister in law this week end to Il to visit my granddaughter and her husband. They are doing their residencies  and don't get a lot of time off, so when they do we try to go visit. Well it was COLD! It even snowed. I thought well when I get home it will be warmer. NOT! It is cold here too,  and of course I complained. That is when I decided to just enjoy The Now. A lot of us are going through a lot of tough things right now and I am not going to complain about something I have no control over. I am saving my energy for more important things.lol. While in Il we met our friend Carla and her husband, Darryl. It was like we had been friends forever! We are friends on a couple of forums and that is how we met.
Carla made us a beautiful cross stitch. Deb made her a little wax lamb. I bought her battery candles on a timer. I need to learn to make something. any ideas? It would have to be rather simple. Any way it was a good visit and we can't wait until we meet again.
I decided today I would share some of my favorite cultery trays with you. I just love these as you can use them for so many things. I mostly just leave them empty and set them around. You know I love hearts. I have found two that have hearts in the handle
This one came from my friends Sandy & Mike at Corner antiques in Clinton.
This one I got from my friend Iris at Corner Antiques a long time ago. Can you tell that is my favorite antique store?
This is the first one I ever bought. It is from Ohio and I have a candle box to match. I have had it for many years.
This one came from an antique store in Ky.
This one is walnut and I bought it on the worlds longest yard sale, from a Pa dealer.
This is my latest and guess where I got it? You guessed it, Corner Antiques! It is really small and not old, but I thought it was cute!
This is one I found at Gooodwill and Deb made it over for me. I liked the handle on it.
I won't bore you with anymore today. I just think they are prim and thought you might enjoy seeing them. I find it so nice we all enjoy seeing one another's prim finds. I really enjoy visiting your blogs and seeing all the neat things you find.
I hope each and everyone of you enjoy The Now with things and people around you that you love. Thanks for coming Through My Back Door where life is good.

  1. Betty, Sounds like you had a good trip. Glad you met up with a friend. Love the cultery trays you have. Thanks for sharing your displays with us. It's so hard not to complain sometime, but I too am trying to "stay in the day" and not complain and not WORRY about tomorrow. That is my weakness, worrying about things I have no control over. Take care and have a good day.

  8. Betty,
You are right, I have been struggling awhile now, but you are right! It's getting better here, I will try and keep that close to mind!
I love all your trays, they are neat! I am glad you met up with Carla!
What about making some pantry boxes? You could get some paper mache sets and either paint them and stain them, or use fabric to cover them. I don't think that would be too hard to do.
    Have a great day Betty!
    Blessings,
    Renee
