After the Declutter and A Few Pictures
Welcome Through My Back Door this beautiful morning. The sun is shining, the coffee is on, and God is in control. How much more can we ask for? I, as you know am trying very hard to declutter my life. I listed a few things I wanted to get rid of and I have a few more to add to that. I want to dispose of all prejudice in my life. I want to be the kind of friend my friends can always depend on. I want to rid myself of the little things that clutter up our lives, such as envy, pride, and saying unkind things. I want to look for the good in everyone. My personal friends as well as my blogging friends. That is what I am going to do. Now that is out of the way, I decided to show you the picture uncluttered, that I posted the other day. I hope you think it looks better now. If you don't, don't tell me, because I worked really hard trying to make it look better. lol
Well, what do you think? Better? I have a small house and just love certain things. I plan on decluttering more areas and will show you what I have done later.
I love pewter as I know most of you do. If you like I will share a little bit of my favorite pewter and the way I use it. If you have been coming Through My Back Door for a little while you know I only want things(and people) around me that I love. I also think you should use the things you have, as much as you can. After all life is short and we have sadness and disappointments enough, with out putting things in our homes to just look at. Now I know we aren't going to use churns, spinning wheels, etc., well most of us aren't, but we can use the things we can. For instance my firkins in the kitchen hold flour, meal, sugar, etc. The pantry boxes hold spices and such. On to my little bit of pewter. Do you need more coffee? If so help yourself, as I love it when you do. It makes me think you feel right at home.
This is the table ready for friends. I love being able to set the soup tureen on the table. The only thing about using pewter is it has to be hand washed. But I don't mind that at all. I want to add that mulled cider served in pewter mugs is just wonderful. Least that is what my friends say.
This coffee set was a gift from a friend. I think I have showed you this before.
A few pewter candles sticks. I love candles and burn them all the time.Have you tried the flameless candles with the times? Oh my I just love them and they actually work! I put them in my windows.
This is my corner cupboard with pewter. I have to say, I really enjoy collecting pewter.
Dolly and Jenn over at The Primitive Pantry have made me blog of the month. That was so sweet of them. I love blogging, but don't know if I have anything to say that interest others. But I was humbled they asked me.The link is on my sidebar, so go on over and read theirs.
Well friends lets all enjoy this day, get rid of the clutter in our lives, and let the people in your life know you love them.
Thanks for coming Through My Back Door where life is good.

Betty....... I seem to be in the same frame of mind as you. I am so ready for spring to happen and I also will be only displaying the things that really need to be there.
ReplyDeleteMy DH and I have had several medical issues this Winter and along with it being the "longest" Winter ever it has given me a lot to think about.
I love having coffee at your place, BTW.
Have a good week!

What gorgeous pewter pieces! Your home is just so lovely and you did a wonderful job decluttering!
ReplyDeleteHi Betty, Well I am right there with you, I have been going through my house getting rid of things that just don't belong anymore. I am doing so because next november I will be keeping my grandson, no time for keeping up with alot of things in the house. You have done a great job on decluttering your house, it always looks so nice anyway. Its so nice to be invited into your house as one of your friends, visiting you makes my day, no wonder you are blog of the month. We all need to take more time for the important things in life. Vicky
