Someone Special Who comes Through My Backdoor

Welcome Through My Backdoor today. I was hoping to have some exciting news to share, but I don't as of this morning. We are looking for a new baby girl, but she has decided not to make an appearance just yet. However her big brother is the light of my life and I thought I would introduce you to him. I didn't want to unless his Mommy agreed and she said sure!
So today you will meet a couple of people who come through my back door. I don't want to overwhelm you with visitors so I will start with these. This is Andrew. He is my four years old great grandson. He is soon going to be a big brother. He keeps me on my toes and he and I have a wonderful time. This is Andrew and his Mommy. She is my oldest Granddaughter. This is on her birthday this year. I will show more pictures of the rest of the family who comes through my backdoor another time.
Someone asked about the  basket on the old red building. There really is no story behind it. A friends sister gave it to me and I love it. It is a tobacco basket. They used to be everywhere, but you don't find them much anymore. I love that old red building because it is original to the property. It isn't used for anything but to hang a basket on.LOL Also she asked about the pottery in the box pictures. It is Maple City pottery and not expensive. It is also usable as it is dishwasher and microwave safe.
Thanks also to all of you have visited Through My Backdoor, and decided to stay as a follower. I had no idea I would get any, let alone so many so soon. I have been told I must do a giveaway when and if I get 50 followers. Well first off I PROMISE I will not make it!!! I haven't decided yet what it will be, but I have a daughter who is a wonderful crafter and I know where the best prim shop is! You can bet it will come from there. (The Speckled Hen, in Clinton, Tn) As soon as I can put it together I'll post a picture. I so humbly thank you for your wonderful comments and for coming Through My Backdoor where life is good. I will leave you with a few pictures of what I see out my backdoor.

Baskets

Its another beautiful day here in East Tenn and I am loving it! These days are just breathtakingly beautiful and its almost a shame to come Through My Back Door instead of sitting outside, but come on in and we will enjoy it from in here. I know you came to talk about baskets, so thats what we will do.
I did not set out to collect baskets, but some of our favorite collections just happen, don't they? In the 90's I along with everyone else bought Longaberger baskets. I still use a lot of mine to carry food places, but for the most part they are packed away.  My first old basket was a red buttocks or gizzard basket my Mother gave me. It is the one on the right. It is a split oak basket and is old. The one on the right is probably twenty years old and was made by a woman in West Tn.
tThe basket on the right is another old egg basket my Mother gave me. The one on the left was given to me by a dear friend, now deceased. She brought it to me one time with fresh bread in it. This little basket below was a gift from my husband. It is so sweet and is quite old. These baskets on the wall shelf are Longaberger baskets of Hope. I have others but these were my favorites

These are a few of my favorite mineratures. The one on the left on the second shelf was made by a  dear friend, who also happened to be my history teacher in high school The one on the right was made by a little Cherokee woman called Miss Maudie. It was a gift from a friend. The one on the bottom was made by  a family member. The big one on the left I bought on the longest yard sale this summer. I thought there was something about it that called my name. I hope I haven't bored you to tears talking about baskets. I could go on and on but will show you another , if that is okay. This one was my husbands great grandmothers egg basket. She made it her self from willow reeds. It was given to me by his great aunt. Don't you love it?  Thanks for coming Through My Back Door and Talking Baskets.  I have more but these are my favorites and I love sharing them with you. Don't know what we'll talk about next time, but come on in and we'll find some thing to share, because life is good Through My Back Door.
I do want to thank those who have become a follower.  I never expected to have so many so fast. Some of you are so busy and to take time to come read my blog humbles me.

Through My Back Door

When people enter my house they always enter through the back door. I think back door guests are best, so come on in. Lets get acquainted, who knows we may even become friends. I live in beautiful East Tn on a creek. I love it here and on a day like today, words can't describe its beauty. Every where you look is color. The leaves are turning and it is a perfect day. I wish I could put it in a bottle and keep it for the cold dreary days of January.I guess I will just enjoy today.
I am not a crafter  nor creator of beautiful things. I don't even do makeovers, I don't sew nor quilt. What do I do? I appreciate all the beautiful things other people create. Hey, creators have to have appreciators.Right?
I do love primitive decorating and antique hunting.  I love looking for just the right little pantry box or the perfect item to go on a shelf. My passion right now is old boxes. I will post pictures one day soon, as soon as I learn how, lol. I love old ferriers boxes and anything it looks like a horse nibbled on.
There is a sweet rottwieller, who lives Through My Back Door. He is the keeper of the property and protector of the back door. (The front too as  he gets upset when anyone comes to that door)lol.
Life is good Through My Back Door. I hope you will come and visit again.
